Is an Osteopath right for me?
Whether you work with your hands or in an office, life comes with its toll on your body. In most adults it's common to develop a range of aches and pains, and our osteopaths can diagnose and treat a wide range of complaints, from back pain, sciatica and headaches through to sporting injuries, arthritis and pregnancy related pain.
Our osteopaths look at how your bones, muscles, joints, nerves, circulatory system, connective tissue and internal organs function as a holistic unit, and consider how lifestyle, work or psychological factors may be contributing to your pain. Treatment involves:
- Hands-on manual therapy to ease pain, reduce swelling and improve overall mobility
- Personal advice on stretching and strengthening exercises
- Posture and work ergonomics
- Stress management
Should I see an Osteopath or a Physiotherapist?
Osteopaths and physiotherapists treat many of the same conditions, and there are far more similarities than differences. Osteopaths treat the body as a whole and are well versed in hands-on techniques like spinal and joint manipulation, while physiotherapists tend to focus on the affected area and use exercise more often as part of treatment. Ultimately it can vary per patient and per injury, and we offer both here at the clinic. You can learn more about our physiotherapy services below.
